About Us
Desert Sky Montessori invites you to be a part of an exciting Montessori charter school currently in its ninth year offering a fully implemented, tuition-free Montessori program.
Desert Sky opened its doors in 2017 with 4 classrooms with grades Kindergarten through 3rd and now offers 7 classrooms through 6th grade. The Bend-La Pine School District has approved Desert Sky to serve children in Kindergarten through 8th grade. The Board of Directors and administration team are diligently working to make plans for a middle school with hopes to expand as soon as possible.
Position Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills and excellent communication abilities. Your ability to coordinate program activities, monitor students, and provide feedback to parents will contribute to the success of our afterschool program.
If you enjoy planning and executing fun activities and working with students, we encourage you to apply for the position of Aftercare Teacher and/or Substitute Aftercare Teacher. Join our team and make a difference in the lives of our students!
High school and college students ages 16+ are encouraged to apply.
Our afterschool program runs:
Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays from 2:45–6:00 pm
Wednesdays 1:15–6:00 pm
Additional hours may be available via substitute teaching in our regular school day classrooms to qualified applicants.
Qualifications
Teaching/coaching experience preferred
Experience working with students in an educational setting
Knowledge of education administration and program coordination
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students
Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving abilities
Current pay rate is $23/hour.

Working at Desert Sky Montessori
Desert Sky Montessori is a K–6 public charter school with seven classrooms in beautiful Bend, Oregon. Our school weaves Montessori curriculum with experiential outdoor learning on a vibrant and woodsy five-acre campus, just minutes to the Deschutes River and close to world-class skiing and snowboarding, mountain biking, rock climbing, rafting, fishing, hiking, and a myriad of other recreational activities.
