Amanda is from Eugene, Oregon where she herself was once a Montessori student. She graduated from Oregon State University with a Degree in Early Childhood Development in 2011. After college Amanda moved to Anchorage, Alaska where she received her Teaching Certificate while attending Alaska Pacific University. Amanda knew the joys of being in a Montessori classroom from her own personal experience and was lucky enough to complete her student teaching requirements in a public Montessori school. She saw students thriving through the student–centered philosophy and knew that teaching in a Montessori classroom was where she belonged.
Amanda has been teaching for over 6 years now. She has worked in both public and private Montessori schools. She has also taught 1st and 2nd grade in public school. Last year, Amanda was the head teacher in the Antelope classroom. She is excited to come back to connections she has already established with students and families. She is looking forward to another great year ahead! Desert Sky feels like home to her working with the amazing staff and supportive community.
In her free time, Amanda loves being outdoors in the sunshine while hiking, swimming, golfing and skiing. She also enjoys walking her dog, Mika, spending time with family and friends, reading and going to yoga.
