Amanda is from Eugene, Oregon where she herself was once a Montessori student. She graduated from Oregon State University with a Degree in Early Childhood Development in 2011. After college Amanda moved to Anchorage, Alaska where she received her Teaching Certificate while attending Alaska Pacific University. Amanda knew the joys of being in a Montessori classroom from her own personal experience and was lucky enough to complete her student teaching requirements in a public Montessori school. She saw students thriving through the student centered philosophy and knew that teaching in a Montessori classroom was where she belonged.
After completing her student teaching requirements, Amanda then took a job at Denali Montessori, a public Montessori School, teaching lower elementary students in the Anchorage School District. Amanda’s husband and her moved to Bend in 2015 to be closer to family. She has spent the last two years at Buckingham Elementary teaching in both a first and second grade classroom.
Amanda loves being outdoors in the sunshine while hiking, paddle boarding, boating and relaxing with her family. She also enjoys reading and crafting. Amanda loves learning from her students and making close relationships with the families in her classroom. She is looking forward to being back in her familiar setting of a Montessori classroom. She is excited for the year ahead and happy to be part of the Desert Sky family
