Bill and I met over a year ago. I was searching for an amazing teacher and Bill was looking for like-minded colleagues to share his love of Montessori. We instantly had a great rapport and chatted for ages. It was one of those sweet moments when I knew I had met someone that would have an impact on my life, and hopefully that of the school I love. When I spoke to the board about what I hoped for when they searched for a new HOS, my first wish was that they find someone who loved all the children in our community. Someone that will always, always put the children first. Someone that will know them all by name and care about each one as an individual. I hoped for someone that deeply believed in the Montessori philosophy and that would come in with energy and enthusiasm and lead the school through the next phase. I believe that Bill is that person. He has all the leadership experience and knowledge Desert Sky needs, but more importantly he is kind, empathetic and compassionate. One of the third-grade girls said to me that the most important thing about a new Head of School is that they are kind. She waves to Bill every time she sees him and is very pleased with our choice. The Desert Sky Montessori community is more than a school, it is a family. Handing over the reins of this special place is probably the hardest thing I have ever done. This school has been built with love, with so much heart and soul, from every staff and board member that has worked here. Once you have the opportunity to talk with Bill, if you have not already, you will see that he is ready to lead with his heart and his strength. He is so excited to be joining this community and I know he will help this sweet little school further grow and develop into such a wonderful learning environment for your children. Bill has such a strong background in education. He has 37 years in schools, with teaching and administration experience. He will bring to Desert Sky new ideas and such enthusiasm for the future. I can’t wait to come back and visit and see how happy everyone is with Bill leading the way. As sad as I am to leave, I am so pleased that my friend Bill, is the new leader of Desert Sky.
