Bonnie joined the Desert Sky Montessori Board of Directors in August 2017. She holds a Masters of Education (M.Ed.) from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Smith College in Northampton, MA. Bonnie’s passion for education began at a young age and she has stayed connected with the education community as a math tutor, high school math teacher, snowboard instructor, dance teacher, parent volunteer and special needs advocate, and now as a member of the Desert Sky Board. A web geek at heart, Bonnie also worked as a professional web developer for 15 years before transitioning to her new career as a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher. Bonnie’s most meaningful personal experience with Montessori was placing her father at the Montessori-based Mt. Bachelor Memory Care facility in Bend, Oregon and seeing the difference the Montessori method makes throughout the life cycle and in particular for memory patients and their families. Bonnie lives in Bend with her spouse, daughter, two cats and border collie doggy.
